On Sunday January 17, 2016, peacefully at Summerset at Bishopscourt; in his 93rd year. Dearly loved husband of Daphne for 68 years, devoted and loving father and father-in-law of Kay and Terry Outram (Wanaka), Heather and John Frampton (Queenstown), Julie and Ross Notman (Dunedin), loving Grandad of Shannon and Donna, Leighton and Keri, and the late Kezia; Monique, Margeaux and Chris; Danielle and Ankit, Iain and Jeena, and proud great-grandfather of Ciara, Kade, Kaian, Hunter, and the late Jett. Grateful thanks to Dr Nick Giblin, the people of Broadway Medical Centre, and the staff of Summerset for their wonderful care of Ian through the years.

Born June 19, 1923 in Fraserburgh, Scotland and longtime resident of Patrick Street, The Glen, Dunedin. Loved youngest son of the late Margaret and Henry Simpson, loved brother of Jean Grey, the late Harry Simpson, and the late Eileen Watt, and loved uncle of his nieces and nephews.
