Peacefully at the Otago Hospice surrounded by his family on the 1st of January 2018, aged 86.

Dearly loved husband of Beckie (Janet) for 64 years. Much loved and respected father of Neil Rout and Jan Simpson, and father-in-law to Chris, Jill and Peter. Dearly loved granddad of Gemma and Howie, Felicity and Steve, Emma and Matthew, Laura and Bonar, and Libby and Jake. Very special great granddad to Ashton, Ryder, Cooper, Otto and Fergus. Dearly loved brother of John (deceased) and Jan, Judith and Gerald, Trish and Keith (and the late John). A much loved uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

Thank you to all the health care services and Frances Hodgkins Rest Home, who helped to care for David in recent months. Special thanks to the wonderful team at the Otago Community Hospice for the exceptional care given to David and his family.
