VERNON, Stanley (Stan) 273449, Cpl, 2nd NZEF. formerly of Mornington, ex DCC Plumbing and Drainage Inspector
On January 27, 2009 at Montecillo Veterans Home; in his 88th year.
Stanley was the youngest son of the late Henry (Harry) and Isabella Vernon. Brother and brother-in-law of Betty and the late Bill Vernon (Abbotsford), the late Phyllis and Don Gilmore (Mosgiel). He was a very loyal and best friend of James, Jean and the late Ray Woods. (Company Bay) and he will be sorely missed. Long time and Life Member of the Otago Model Engineers Society.
The whistle is blowing the smoke is black the train is steaming along the track. 'Tis your last ride Stan, you're not coming back To Heaven it goes and now it shows, Time to get off Stan, now you've run out of steam.
"We hope you've got a pocket full of peppermints on your journey" - from James and Jean.
Stanley's funeral will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel; corner Andersons Bay Road and Oxford Street at 2.00pm on Friday January 30 followed by private cremation.
