Peacefully on November 13, 2009 at Dunedin Hospital; aged 87 years.

Dearly loved husband of Dawn. Loved father and father-in-law of Marilyn and Gerard, Dianne and Russell. Loved grandad and great-grandad. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Jack and Florence Botting, the late Muriel, and Minnie and the late Charlie. Loved brother-in-law of Peter Newall (Palmerston North), Shirley and Lloyd Degarnham (Palmerston), Dorothy and Bill Dee (Mosgiel), Pam Johnston (Kaiapoi), Robin and Patricia Newall (Australia), Les and Margaret Newall (Timaru), Richard and the late Dorrie Newall (Dunedin), Ralph and the late Dianne Newall (Australia), the late Jenny Linder (USA), Donny Newall (Australia), and Cheryl Knight (Australia), and loved uncle of all his nieces and nephews.

A service for Alby will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, corner Andersons Bay Road and Oxford Street at 2pm on Wednesday November 18, followed by private cremation.
