On March 24, 2012, peacefully at home in his sleep; in his 91st year.

Cherished husband of Eva, married for nearly 67 years, loved dad to Barry and Nancye, Bruce, Lynne and the late Ricky Jarvis, loved grandad of Rebecca and Brent Murray (Christchurch), Shannon Murray (Perth), Hayden and Rebecca (Dunedin), Anna Murray (Perth), and Murray Jarvis (Dunedin), loved great-grandad of Jesse, and Alex (Christchurch), and Cameron (Dunedin), loved brother and brother-in-law of Stan and Isobel Murray (Invercargill), loved brother-in-law of Irene and the late Murray Pollock (Rangiora), loved uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

A service for Syd will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, corner Andersons Bay Road and Oxford Street at 1pm on Thursday March 29, followed by private cremation.

In lieu of flowers donations to Montecillo War Veterans Home and Hospital would be appreciated and may be left at the service.
