On October 29, 2012, after a long illness, at the Otago Community Hospice, surrounded by his family and life-long friend Wayne Andrews. Aged 64 years.

Dearly loved husband and soulmate of Denise, loved father and father-in-law of Riki and Michelle, Lee and Willie Lyon, and Mark and Sharlene. Much loved Granddad and Grandie of Kyle and Nikita; Emma, Matthew and Sam; Sophie and Scott, loved son-in-law of Betty Ferguson.

A special thank you to all the staff at the Otago Community Hospice and Dr Paul Bennett for their care and support.

A service will be held in the Hope and Sons Chapel, corner Andersons Bay Road and Oxford Street, Dunedin at 10.30 a.m. on Friday November 2 followed by private cremation.

In lieu of flowers donations for the Otago Community Hospice would be appreciated and may be left at the service.

Passed away on Monday night October 29, 2012, after a long courageous battle. Son of the late Ted and Doreen MacDonald, much loved brother of the late Ted, Val and Kathleen, Kirk and the late Denise Wyber, Helen and the late Rex, Vicky and Mike Kelly. Des has many nieces and nephews all of whom had a great respect and love for him. Rest Peacefully.

Dearly loved brother and brother-in-law to Val and Kathleen MacDonald. Loved and treasured Uncle of Natasha and Rob Harvey, Quentin and the late Bobbie MacDonald. Great Uncle of Amber, Sam and Jessie. Now resting peacefully.
