Peacefully at home on May 19, 2014; in his 80th year. Dearly loved husband, best friend and soul mate of Margaret, much loved father and father-in-law of Bruce and Richelle, Wayne and Bronnie, the late Garth, and Tania McDonald, Rochelle and Steve Kelland (Oamaru), Trudy and Greg Taylor (Patearoa), loved grandfather of his 13 grandchildren and friend of Hamish McDonald.

A service for Algar will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, corner Andersons Bay Road and Oxford Street at 12.30pm on Friday May 23 followed by private cremation.
