BURKE, John Laurence

On February 23, 2017 at Dunedin Hospital, surrounded by his wife and children, lost his courageous and determined battle with illness; aged 72 years.

Son of the late John (Jack) and Elizabeth Burke (Invercargill). Deeply loved husband for 49 years of Anna, dearly loved father and father-in-law of John and Val (Wanaka), Bridget and Shane Fox (Christchurch), Stephen and Megan (Dunedin), Michael and Yuki (Japan), Allannah and Glenn McKay (Canberra, ACT), Chris and Amanda (Dunedin), Megan and Mark Adamson (Dunedin), Matt and Emma (Dunedin), Catherine and Reuben Blakely (Palmerston North) and Tim and Siobhan (Oamaru).

Much loved grandfather of Luke, Samantha, Ruby, Daniel, Kaitlin, Hunter, Michael, Jessica, Harry, Bob, Tom, Sophie, Lucy, Jack, Henry, Cole, Bella, Joseph, Rose and Molly. Loved brother and brother-in law of Erin (Perth, WA), Pat and Sharon (Queenstown), Brian and Fay (Auckland) and David Hall (Hamilton).

Loved uncle and great uncle of his nephews and nieces.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St Joseph’s Cathedral, Rattray Street at 11am on Thursday, March 2.

Rosary will be held at the Cathedral at 6pm on Wednesday March 1. No flowers please.
