On December 31, 2006 in his 75th year at St Andrews Home & Hospital, peacefully after an illness borne with dignity. Most dearly loved husband, Dad and friend of Sybil, Robyn & Bruce, Janice & Rory and proud Papa of George. Remembered with love by his family in Northern Ireland, Ian & Iris Kirkwood, Jim & Marlene McDowall and his many nieces and nephews.

A service for David will be held in Caversham Presbyterian Church, Thorn Street, at 2pm on Thursday January 4 , followed by private cremation. In lieu of flowers donations to the Otago Community Hospice may be left at the service.
