WILESMITH, MARK JOHN -
On August 26, 2023 an exceptional man left us.
It is with enormous sadness that we advise that Mark died (suddenly) at home.
Dearly loved husband and beautiful friend of Susie Staley. Proud father of his beloved son James and partner Beti. Loving stepfather to Christopher. Cherished son of the late John and Daphne (Dorset) and son-in-law of the late Robert and Valerie Staley. Mighty Brother-in-law of Sam and Jane Staley, Michael Staley and Bryan Chan (Hong Kong). Passionate and favourite Uncle of his nephews Bradley and Gregor Staley.
Mark was generous and caring, intelligent and mischievously witty, a cheeky raconteur, a walking encyclopaedia of popular music who loved all things in his life. He touched so many people with his joy and sense of fun.
A service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, 523 Andersons Bay Road, Dunedin at 2pm on Saturday, September 16, followed by private cremation.
Messages to office@staleycardoza.co.nz or on Mark’s tribute page at www.tributes.co.nz where you can watch the service livestream.
Signing off for the last time.
Peace and Love M
Throughout his life, Mark generously contributed both time and funds to support a number of charities and local initiatives. This included a long-time association with Save the Children New Zealand, alongside his wife and Board Chair Susie. To honour Mark’s philanthropic spirit, you are welcome to make a donation to support Save the Children’s life changing Early Start project for mothers and babies in remote communities in Nepal.
