On February 6, 2008, unexpectedly but peacefully, at Dunedin Hospital; in his 72nd year.

Dearly loved husband and best friend of Rosemarie, dearly loved and cherished father and father-in-law of Avis and Mark Owen (Gore), Ross (Mosgiel), Christine and Andrew Irvine (Australia), and Andrew (Mosgiel). Adored grandad of Amy, Sam, and Ben (Gore); Genevieve, and Patrick (Mosgiel); and Nikau (Australia).

A service for John will be held in the Green Island Baptist Church, Abbotsford Road, Green Island, Dunedin, at 11am on Monday, February 11, followed by private cremation.

Donations for the Heart Foundation would be appreciated and may be left at the service.
