On July 26, 2008, at Dunedin Hospital after a short illness; aged 63 years.

Dearly loved husband and best friend of Dawn. Loved Son of the late Jim and Florrie. Dearly loved brother and brother-in-law of Joan and Graham Pyle (Wanaka), Faye and Bruce Duncan (Chatto Creek), and Peter (Temuka), and loved uncle and great uncle of his niece and nephews, and loved by Tiggie.

A service for John will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, corner Andersons Bay Road and Oxford Street at 3:30pm on Wednesday July 30, followed by private cremation.
