Loved and admired husband and best friend of Anne, much loved and respected father and father-in-law of Joan Atley (Dunedin), Doug Smart (Timaru) , Val and Steve Scobie (Christchurch), friend of Joy, Graham, and Jacqui. Treasured grandad of Jacob, Isaac, and Olivia Atley; Elizabeth Herbison, and Daniel Smart; Michael, and Sarah Scobie. Loved brother of Gary, Ian, Graham and the late Alan, brother-in-law of Barbara, and Judy, loved by all his nieces and nephews.

A service for John will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel corner Andersons Bay Road and Oxford Street at 2.00pm on Monday November 30, followed by private cremation.
