On November 16, 2013, peacefully with his family, at Dunedin Hospital, aged 92 years.

Dearly loved husband of the late Joan, loved Dad of Dave and Lorraine (Palmerston North), and Grant and Avis (Perth, W.A.), loved Poppa of Gemma, and Cameron; Bianca, Nikia, Jade, and Tara, eldest brother of Diana (Wellington), and the late Ray (Hamilton), Joyce, Margaret (Mosgiel), Alan, Betty, and Diana (Wellington).

A service for Ian will be held in Hope and Sons Chapel, corner Andersons Bay Road and Oxford Street, Dunedin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday November 20 followed by private cremation.

In lieu of flowers donations for the National Heart Foundation would be appreciated and may be left at the service.
