McKINNON, Avenal Beryl Elizabeth (nee Gough) MNZM:
There is another angel in heaven. Avenal passed away peacefully in Wellington on Friday, March 12, 2021. Avenal was the much loved wife of John, mother of Sasha (Alex), Matthew and Sophie, Grandmummy to Ella and Bloomie (Geneva), and Ruru to Madeleine, Betsy and Percy (Khandallah).

Avenal was the loved only daughter of the late Owen and Avenal Gough of Christchurch, twin sister of Antony Gough, sister of Tracy Gough and Harcourt Gough. Avenal was devoted to her family and to art, including during her time as Director of the New Zealand Portrait Gallery. Our thanks to all those who looked after Avenal in her final months.


A service of thanksgiving for Avenal's life will be held at St Mary's Anglican Church, 8 Fancourt St, Karori, on Friday, March 19, 2021, at 11.00am, followed by private interment.
