KATSANOS, Eirini (Irene) – Peacefully at home on 25th April 2022, surrounded by her loving family, aged 82 years.

Devoted wife of George for 59 years. Adored mother and mother-in-law of Nicky and Jeffery, Jim (Demetrios) and Viki, Dennis and Melissa.
Dearly loved and cherished Yiayia K (grandmother) of Elise and Tom, Denielle and Howard, Giorgios, Marie, Cruz and Chanel.
A special great-grandmother of Alexis-Renèe, Isabella, Ren and Georgia.


Special thanks to the following who looked after Irene so well and treated her with respect,
love and compassion – Dr Rose Dodd and the Peninsula Medical Center, Dr Anne O’Donnell and the
Wellington Hospital Oncology team, Dr Christian Robold and the wonderful staff at Mary Potter Hospice, Wellington Free Ambulance, Paul Frederikson and staff at Strathmore Park Pharmacy.
Our sincere gratitude to the dedicated personal carers and district nurses who supported Irene with dignity and kindness.

A funeral service will be held for Irene at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral “O Evangelismos tis Theotokou" (Annunciation of the Birth Giver of God), 3 Hania Street, Mount Victoria on Saturday 30th April at 9.30am. Thereafter, interment at Makara Cemetery. Messages for ‘the Katsanos family’ may be placed in Irene’s tribute book on this page or posted c/- PO Box 14-366, Kilbirnie 6241.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mary Potter Hospice, Wellington Free Ambulance or the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, would be appreciated.

The family will accept condolences at the family home on Wednesday and Thursday between 3.00pm and 8.00pm.
