On 18th April 2008, sadly passed away at home, after a sudden illness, surrounded by her whanau. In her 86th year.

Loving daughter of Wiremu Matiaha Te Arohatai raua ko Kirikiri Namana. Ko Tauru raua ko Kahungareta Anaru (Whangai) (all deceased). Beloved sister of Herbert, Bill, Reg, Hector, Ischia, Agnes, Celia, Ngareta, Kahupoto, Sambo (all deceased) and Kapu.

Loving wife of the late Richard Pura (Bobo) and the late Wiremu Sam Martin.

Cherished mother of her tamariki – Nuki & Rana (both deceased), Tangi & Mossie (both deceased), Tiki & Rosina, Linda & Dick, Thomas & Margaret, Maureen, Ngawaina & Steve, Wikitoria (deceased) & Robot, Robert & Kuini, Noel & Manawai, Lawrence & Shar, Rosemary & Jigga, Liz & Bill, and Denis & Trish.
Precious Nanny to all her 86 mokopuna, 194 mokopuna tuarua me, 72 mokopuna tuatoru.

Josie is lying at the Hurunuiorangi Marae, Gladstone where her tangihanga will be held on Tuesday 22nd April 2008 at 11.00 a.m. followed by interment at the Tumaikoko Urupa.
