On 29 August 2009 suddenly at his home, Carterton. Aged 60 years.

Dearly loved husband of Bernie. Loved father and father in law of Rex and Manaia, Tony, Erin and Ben, and Issac. Loved Grandad of Madison, Luca, Shauna, Leigha, Emma, Awatea, and Aurora.

Loved son of the late Donald and Rosyle Carswell. Loved brother of Doug (dec) and Rita, Norma and Malcolm (both deceased), Heather and Alan, Anne and Bruce. Loved uncle of all his nieces and nephews.

A service for Red will be held in the Richmond Chapel, Richmond Rd, Carterton on Friday 4th September 2009 at 11.00am followed by burial at the Clareville Lawn Cemetery.
