It is with immense sadness we announce that Matenga, has been tragically taken by the sea off Southern Fiordland, on February 25, 2016; in his 82nd year.

Loving husband of Janece loved Father of Teone and Erin, Michelle and Neil, adored Pa of Ngaomi and Tuli, Peter and Bridget, David, Tia, Blake, Ella, Taiaroa, Tristan, Caleb, Phoenix and Ruby and much loved uncle of all his nieces and nephews.

Matenga will be resting at his home until Wednesday. 

A service will be held at Otakou Marae at 1pm on Wednesday March 2, followed by an interment in the Urupa.
