DIGBY, Mutal Agnes Helen : On 28 October 2016 in her 96th year, died peacefully at Te Hopai Rest Home, Wellington. Loved wife of the late Kenelm Hubert Digby M.B.E. Dearly loved mother and mother-in-law of Rosalind & Derek Broadmore, Geoff Digby & Clytie Ho, Noel (deceased) & Helen Digby; and grandmother to her 12 grandchildren: Cherished "Ba" to Sam & Adelle Broadmore, David & Anna Broadmore, and to Rachel & Andre Hawke; much loved "Bushka" to Amalie & Jason Pearce, Oliver Daniel, Vanessa and Eleanor Digby; and adored "Nanny Ba" to Aleisha , Mikaela, Sophia and Harry Digby (England). And she was also the proud great-grandmother of Edward and Isabel Broadmore and Madeleine Pearce! Beautifully spoken, a pilot of aeroplanes, collector of insects, spiders, lizards and axolotls; she was in addition a woman of endless playfulness, compassion, patience and equanimity. She was utterly unique, and continued to do things differently from others right up until the very end. Mutal was absolutely treasured by her family and by everyone who came to know her. We will miss her enormously. Mum has spent the last 9 years at Te Hopai. She has experienced exceptional care over this time. Our sincere gratitude is extended both to Lillian and her staff at Te Hopai Rest Home and to Janine and the staff of Kowhai for their loving commitment and professional skill. All of them could not have been more loving, caring and compassionate, and we have appreciated their awesomeness very very much! A celebration of Mutal's life is going to be held at the Harbour City Crematorium Chapel, 56 Onepu Road, Kilbirnie, on Tuesday 1st November 2016 at 2:00pm. In accordance with her wishes, sad funeral manners and dark clothing will be banned. Bright colours are compulsory, and crazy gear and glitter are more than welcome (so get thee now to the $2 Shop!).
