TRICKER, Gary Walter of Greytown aged 82 died unexpectedly from a stroke on the 23rd August 2021.

Gary was a well-known and respected artist within New Zealand and an internationally acclaimed printmaker who lived his life around Wellington and the Wairarapa creating art and cheering for the Hurricanes.

Gary has two sisters, Ann Sutherland and Barbara Bashell as well as nieces and nephews. We will miss our whimsical, semi-abstract surreal creator. We hope that in better times we can all come together and celebrate the life of one of New Zealand’s artists who added colour and life to our landscape.

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” Pablo Picasso

Gary died last year but due to covid uncertainties his service will now be at 1:30pm on the 4th June at St Luke’s Anglican Church, Main St, Greytown.

Donations in lieu of flowers to the Forest and Bird Society www.forestandbird.org.nz.

Showing his trademark detail, Gary wanted his service to be held at St Luke’s with some ‘flowers of blue and green with some pink/red’. Very precise, very Gary. Friends and family will honour his wishes, honour his life and give thanks for his presence in our lives.
His creativity will live on in his artwork and his generosity in our communities.

“To be an artist is to believe in life.” – Henry Moore
