Birkett, John Darrell, born on the 3rd of January 1970, despite a record of showing stunning defiance of mortality, has soberly passed away on the 12th day of October, this 2023, age 53.

Let it be known he was at home and in the company of his family and friends at the time of his passing, and that his path out of this world was a peaceful one.

He shall be remembered as an excellent chef, martial arts enthusiast, coffee enjoyer, alcohol connoisseur, artist, model maker, and a loving husband, father and friend to many.

Those who wish to bring along flowers, letters or other sentimental tributes may do so.


Johns’ funeral shall be held at 11:00 AM, 28th of October, at the Cockburn Street Chapel, corner of Onepu Rd and Cockburn St, Kilbirnie, Wellington followed by private family cremation.

To the celebration of a life well lived, may John Birkett rest in peace.
