George Dimitrious George

30/06/1956 - 9/04/2024

GEORGE, George Dimitrious - 30/06/1956 to 09/04/2024, aged 67 years.

It is with great sadness we announce that our dear Georgie has left us after a hard fought battle with cancer at Mary Potter Hospice.

Dearly beloved son of the late Jim and Angela George.

Darling husband of Lorraine, adored dad and father-in-law of Gabrielle & Tom, Jonathan (Jono) & Naomi, and very special Papou to baby Ana and grand-dog Tig.

Loved brother and brother-in-law of Yvonne and John Clarke, and brother-in-law of Vaughan Ferrow.
Sempethero (in-law) to Margery Ferrow, Jo Lynch and Mary De Schot.

A very special nephew and cousin to his extended George and Lazaridis families.

Best mate (always) and Koumbaro to Nick and Pam Tramoundanas, and loved Nouno of Sonya.

George was proud to be an Air New Zealander, and he was loved and valued by his colleagues and friends at Wellington Airport for the past 36 years.

A huge amount of thanks to: Mr Omid Yassaie, Dr David Okonji, the nurses and staff at Bowen Icon Cancer Centre, District Health stoma nurses and health care assistants, Wellington Free Ambulance, but most of all to the doctors, nurses and amazing staff at Mary Potter Hospice for all of their care during George’s final days.

No flowers by request, but donations to Mary Potter Hospice https://marypotter.org.nz/support-us/donations/ would be gratefully received.

Condolences will be received on Sunday 14th April between 2-5pm at 13 Treasure Grove, Hataitai, Wellington.

Messages to the George family can be sent to PO Box 14-366, Kilbirnie, or placed in George’s tribute book on this page where you can also join the service via the blue livestream button.

A funeral service for George will be held at Scots College Chapel, 1 Monorgan Rd, Strathmore, on Tuesday 16th April at 1pm, thereafter followed by a private cremation.

A wonderful brother and brother-in-law to Vonnie and John. You will be greatly missed, and you leave a big hole in our hearts. Your warmth and zest for life was legendary.
“Rest in peace Georgie.”

To a Valiant Warrior who fought till the bitter end. To our Koumbaro, our Nouno, our soul brother. You will never be far from our thoughts and hearts.
“Rest in peace now.“
- Tramoundanas Family.
