Erzsébet Kovács Born Fegyvernek, Hungary.
Son: Antony Eykel - Eldest Daughter: Helen Moore
Grandson: Graham Moore GreatGranddaughter: Katarina
Elizabeth came to NZ as a refugee in 1957 after the Hungarian uprising, having escaped - in a leaking boat across a river, running across a field, shot at - to Austria where she had initially intended to go to Canada.
She arrived in NZ unable to speak English and knowing little about the country.
She met Barry, an English immigrant in Dunedin. She married him in Jan 1960.
She had 4 children, the two youngest died as babies, one born premature and the other, having received a blood transfusion, due to RH factor issues, caught Hepatitis from it and lived one month.
She worked all her life, finally being made to retire in her late 70s.
She always said she would live until her eldest was of Pension age, and she succeeded in her goal.
A private service will be held online 28th Dec.
