MARSHALL, Sarah
Our Chef,
We were lost when first you found us
Just filling in each plate
Working in the last century
Supplying food to the patients, but food for foods sake
You lifted the hospital eating experience, ours following directly in line
To a level not previously considered, some compliments saying divine
Your love and passion for your task clearly obvious
Strict in your want of each, rightly done
With patients needs prevalent, capture the eye to feed the man
The aim but pure perfection, good was just not good enough
Your desire to complete the cycle overriding as your body buckled in its want
Pushing each day to its limits, heroic in your very goal
Bringing a tear to miss you
But comfort now that your pain is gone
The absent of your footfalls in the passage
A reminder of what you have done
But we smile in what you have left us
Our Chef with respect,
a precious little something,
lost but never gone
