PhD, Companion of the NZ Order of Merit, fellow of the NZ Educational Institute, Parents Centre patron, life member of the Labour Party, ex-member of the Victoria University Council, at Wellington on 3rd November.

Loved wife of Paetahi (Pat) Mete-Kingi (died 1945) and Jim Bell (died 1997), loved mother of John Mete-Kingi, Kathrine Sutcliffe and Simon Bell, and immediate family: Deborah Tait, Grant Henderson, Bobby Keelan, Steve Sutcliffe, Jane Campbell, Tom Campbell, Geraldine Tait, Ella Tait; and mokopuna, Rachel, Matthew, Matariki, Arapeta, Rhys, Jesse, Jim, Zion, Te Paea, Michelle and Melissa, Jasmine and Riley.

Loved mentor, supporter and advocate for all her many friends, colleagues and students, and revered kuia of the Mete-Kingi family.

Marie will be at home with her family at 32 Imperial Tce until the funeral service at Old St Paul's on Thursday 8th November at 11.30am, followed by a cremation at Harbour City Funeral Home.
